Human Resource Development

The high level of unemployment is troubling especially amongst the youth.


FORD-KENYA will pursue economic policies to create avenues for livelihoods by:


1. Keeping inflation below 4 percent to create a stable and predictable economic path

2. Maintaining interest rates at single digits to encourage private investments in commerce and industry

3. Giving tax incentives to companies that employ youth as interns

4. Provide tax incentives to labour intensive companies willing to relocate to Kenya

5. Raising the retirement age to 60 years see the senior section

6. Increasing public expenditure on infrastructure to attract investment

7. Expanding exchange technical training programmes for public and private sectors

8. Investing in skills training for the Jua Kali sector

9. Initiating partnerships between schools and the private sector for training of students

10. Strengthening ties between the Ministry of Labour/Human Resource Development and the private sector to create seek job opportunities

11. Establishing a bureau for external jobs survey for unemployed people
