Culture and Sports

Kenya has the richest cultural diversity but the sector is riddled with problems due to lack of coherent policy guidelines. Plagiarism is rampant in the literacy world while piracy in the music industry deprives our artists of their dues.


The pace of cultural integration is threatening the cradles of our cultures and threatens to obliterate our cultural identity and positive aspects of our culture. Lack of policy on entertainment exposes to pornography and excessive violence.


The sports sector on the other hand is constantly caught up in leadership struggles.


FORD-KENYA will reorganize this sector through:


1. Enactment of a coherent and inclusive culture and sports policy

2. Protection of the music industry from piracy

3. Full employment of sportsmen/women on permanent terms and pension

4. Encouragement of the growth of a strong domestic film industry

5. Development of sports and recreation facilities from the village level

6. Establishment of a National Cultural Commission to harmonize and mainstream cultural activities in the country

7. Enhance the positive and entertaining aspects of culture through education, song, dance, exhibition, etc

8. Establishment of cultural centers at district levels both for posterity and tourist attraction

9. Introduce an award schemes for cultural conservationists
