Chapter Fourteen
Gender
FORD-KENYA believes in gender parity. The empowerment of women, youth, people with disabilities and minorities to participate fully in decision making makes for an all inclusive value-creating society.
FORD-KENYA will increase women’s participation in socio-economic and political development through:
1. Creating a Ministry for Women Affairs to streamline women issues in development
2. Remove cultural and attitude barriers to women’s participation in public affairs
3. Advocate for Mixed Membership Representation to entrench a basis for women’s participation in politics
4. Legislate and administer the role of women in party politics
5. Remove barriers for women candidates
6. Enforce and increase the punishment of sexual offenses against women, and especially against young girls and children
7. Offer free pre-intra-and post-partum care for women
8. Eliminate biases hindering promotion of women in the public and private sectors
