Chapter Seven
Land and Environment
Currently, land distribution is an issue of great concern to Kenya. Rising population growth, competing livelihoods and environmental pollution are causing degradation.
1. FORD-KENYA will ensure that as the basic means of livelihood our land is:
2. Equitably distributed to minimize landlessness
3. Properly utilized to avoid degradation
4. Properly demarcated into settlements, wildlife and other natural sanctuaries.
5. Governed by fair, progressive and environmentally protective statutes
FORD-Kenya will establish a standing land commission to advise the Government on sustainable use of natural resources while observing and maintaining the delicate balance between man and nature. This will include encouraging more community participation in environmental conservation to boost livelihoods and tourism.
