VI. Ideology

We in FORD-KENYA are Social Democrats. We believe in the collective exercising of civil rights, constitutional practices in governance that ensures the proper management and equitable distribution of resources and opportunities, as well as representative leadership.

We advocate the running of carefully selected state ownership and enterprise to subsidize education, health care, child care and social security for all citizens, particularly the sick, the unemployed, the under-employed and the aged with goal to reducing poverty.

We believe in a simple broad-based tax system with a regulated market to curb the exploitation and deprivation of the citizens from accessing basic goods and services. This would include devolvement and management of resources at the local level to encourage participation of communities in leadership and economic growth.
