Section 7 Regional and International Relations
Kenya is part of a larger regional and international community. The realization of our objectives in economic development, social welfare, and democracy is closely tied to our international economic, social, and political setting, especially under the present conditions of globalization. Furthermore, the international community offers both opportunities and challenges for our social, economic, and political interests.
ODM-K will formulate a foreign policy based on regional and international cooperation so as to:
iii. Create external markets in which to trade in commodities and services in the context of WTO as well as regional and bilateral arrangements
iv. Attract external investors to satisfy the domestic capital needs
v. Attract external visitors and tourists to boost our foreign exchange earnings
vi. Create friends and allies who can help us bargain in international forums
vii. Have international peace and security in which our own peace and security is vested. Hence, we shall cooperate with UN, the African Union and IGAD, and participate in peacekeeping operations and peace making within the region
viii. Promote regional cooperation and integration based treaties and agreements already concluded under the East African Community and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa
