ORANGE DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT - KENYA 2007
Preamble
The Party
ODM–K espouses the principles of Social Democracy, based on five ideals: government obligation to provide support for increased investment and productivity, high returns, equitable distribution of benefits, rising standards of living and free and full exercise of civil rights and individual freedoms
Obligation of the Party
ODM-K now undertakes its obligation to the Kenyan people and pledges to promote democratic governance and restore peace throughout the country so as to guarantee social harmony among the richly diverse Kenyan cultures, rule of law, and a prosperous future based on equitable distribution of social and economic opportunities among all Kenyans.
Program of Action
The primary motivation of the ODM-K national leadership is the desire to end poverty and the immense social and economic distress that the majority of our people face. ODM-K believes that Kenya is endowed with enormous, but insufficiently tapped resources. Wealth and prosperity will come to our people through a program that aims to increase investment, economic productivity, employment opportunities, higher incomes, and equitable distribution of benefits across regions and social categories of the population. This is the thrust of the ODM-K program for social and economic transformation in Kenya.
Capacity for Implementation
ODM-K understands that the greatest test of a good party manifesto and program for national development and social transformation is in its implementation. ODM-K is uniquely able to deliver on the specifics of this manifesto, for the party seeks political office with the singular motivation to serve. The party has no room for anyone seeking power for the sake of it or for individuals with questionable integrity who could hold back the free hand of the party in its effort to generate positive change. Indeed, the decisions ODM-Kenya leadership will make once in office will be based on principles, and on party and government policy, not political indebtedness to politicians of dubious credentials.
